1st of December

“It would be mortifying to the feelings of many ladies, could they be made to understand how little the heart of a man is affected by what is costly or new in their attire... Woman is fine for her own satisfaction alone. No man will admire her the more, no woman will like her the better for it. Neatness and fashion are enough for the former, and a something of shabbiness or impropriety will be most endearing to the latter.”
Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

Red

Clothes are the surest vehicle of self expression available to us.

Do you think fashion is influenced by consumer society?
"Yes, and it has been for years. We're led to believe that if we dress such and such a man or women, we will become in some way that person. We no longer dress because we are something but because we want to be something. Women have been convinced that they need to resemble such and such celebrity , but i'm like this, so i will damn well dress like this in the way they really should be thinking. Our society is heavily influenced by TV culture with its phony realities . People want to be famous, without doing the work. they think they can call themselves artist just because they they have taken a few photographs. Work is no longer recognized or acknowledged. I believe many people in my own generation have no idea what work even means"

Valentino dress...

"Don't you think that it's boring how people talk
Making smart with their words again, well I'm bored
Because I'm doing this for the thrill of it, killin' it
Never not chasing a million things I want
And I am only as young as the minute is full of it
Getting pumped up from the little bright things I bought
But I know they'll never own me"

"Baby be the class clown
I'll be the beauty queen in tears
It's a new art form showing people how little we care (...) "

then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.

Childhood Nostalgia

I'm absolutely adore these nostalgic 50s-inspired styles, which pays tribute to the wonderfully chic designs of that iconic decade. The childhood 'nostalgia' trend is currently touching all elements of our lives, from the food we eat to the TV series we are watching and the clothes we are wearing. In the past year or so there seems to have been a renewed desire for nostalgic sweets and deserts, from hard boiled sweets, to sherbet dips, Angel Delight and Battenberg. More and more, we are seeing the styles of yesteryear influencing the clothes we wear, from the 50s inspired prom dresses to the office chic of Mad Men

I had an editorial photo-shoot in Sheffield, after we all done, on a way back to the studio I've spotted beautiful carousel, this actually quite nostalgic view remind me the childhood and inspire for today blog post ^.^ Of course i done a very quick snapshots!:)

Grease Dress

"Fashion offers a dialogue rich with social and political meaning for those who want to un-lock the language of clothes. And there is a much to be learned from exploring the relationship between humans and finery- a relationship which goes way beyond the functions of protection and warmth and becomes the recognition of the power of image to augment individual and collective identity. Fashion has always been the great democracy, adding a contemporary significanceto fine costiume that ignores class hierarchies. Our need is to adore our bodies. To dress up and express something of ourselves, which embracing the visual codes  in order to stand out from the crowd (...)" ID Magazine

Once upon a time...

Flip through glossy fashion magazines and you will find gorgeous beauties staring at you.
Do you ever wonder why some people make a career out of looking pretty?  Do appearances matter?
If beauty is only skin deep, why do we have a multi-billion dollar industry working for the epidermis?

Emergence of beauty...

"The soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone"

I have been invited to do probably the most challenging  themed shoot i ever had opportunity to do!
The theme of the shoot is to mix dirt with beauty. The styling for the shoot was the strong red lipstick on  femanine lips, nails painted to match the lips and a plain makeup to give the skin a flawless look. After I had makeup application my hair was rapped in cleanfilm and  possibly the whole top half of your head. As crazy as this sounds we then pour COLD MUD( from the samuel mum's garden) To get the right consistency we mixed it with flour, plaster and olive oil . That then was on top of my head so it reaches as far down to my  nose but so still were possible to see my lips clean.. ...
Giving the fact that we were worked with mud we only get a small amount of time to get great pictures so we was  shooting for no longer that 30 - 45 mins :D
First Picture is all about make up and nails  preparation, which was just about 3 hours, no jokes!
